Scaps to MINI-QUILTS

 Yes, you read that correctly...MINI-QUILTS!

-- WEBSTERS DEFINITION OF QUILTS INCLUDES:

  • Structure: A, 3-layer "sandwich" consisting of a top layer, filler (batting), and backing.
-- ANOTHER SITE SAYS - in part:

...a decorative top, a warm, insulated middle filler (batting), and a backing—held together by stitching that often creates a decorative design

-- YET ANOTHER PLACE WRITES:

Yes, many potholders are considered miniature quilts or "quilty" projects because they are constructed using the same techniques: sandwiching top fabric, batting (often insulated), and backing, then stitching them together.

OK sewy folks...are you convinced yet that we "potholder persons" are indeed - MINI-QUILTERS?  Good enuf for me.  They are quick, oh so pretty and they use up the endless growing amount of scraps we sewers seem to produce (personally...I think they reproduce when we are elsewhere???).

During this amazing "potholder quilting process", we  use our creative genes, spend time in our OWN little space - reviving from our daily stresses, re-inventing patterns that are uniquely ours.. and well....just having FUN!!  Remember that little word we often forget as our lives end up in weeks, months and yes - even years of bypassing that amazingly NECESSARY process in life.

FUN. FUN. FUN.

Today I am showcasing a special site I discovered; yes folks - HE is a guy who has the same exuberance and joy amongst his scraps and all the unsundry pieces of his sewing "headquarters" that we (usually) gals play in.  Our sewing sandboxes!  Gotta Love words!! But I digress, again.

I know I showcased a similar process in a previous post (turning inside out) way to "finish" the edges, but SCRAPPY PATCH does this with such joy that I just had to bring him here to your attention.

Enjoy and join in to his fun and joy and creativity.  Make another "lowly potholder" for your QUILT GALLERY/kitchen...have FUN. Give SCRAPPY PATCH a fun comment, let him know that his ideas...are appreciated.

Thank you for stopping by potholdersplus.

Magic in the making. Always room for one more.
